We Provide the Highest Quality Service at the Lowest Possible Price!
In an effort to better serve our customers’ needs, Heritage Propane Ltd. invites prospective clients to take a few moments and browse the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about our propane services. Should you not see the answer to a specific question you may have about our products or services listed below, please feel free to contact us!
Q. What are your prices like?
A. As propane is a commodity, wholesale cost can fluctuate on a daily basis. At Heritage Propane, we strive to provide you with the lowest cost possible.
Q. How soon can you deliver?
A. While our delivery time frame will also vary depending upon your specific circumstances, we do try to offer our services as promptly as we can with same-day service available whenever possible.
Q. How do I know what size of tank best fits my needs?
A. Several factors must be taken into consideration, including your usage, location and tank availability. Please contact us to speak with one of our knowledgeable representatives who would be more than happy to help you select the right size!
Q. What type of maintenance is required with a propane tank?
A. Keep your propane tank area free of all storage and combustible materials, including grass and brush.
Schedule annual or periodic inspections to ensure your tank is performing properly.
If your storage vessel is 25 years or older, allow one of our professionals to get your tank back up to date; we recertify.
Painting should be done periodically to avoid rust. Please contact us for more information
Q. How do I read the gauge on my tank?
A. Look for the gauge under the hood on the top of your propane tank. Once lifted, you should find a dial with numbers ranging from 5 to 95, which are indicative of your tank’s propane percentage. You should periodically check your gauge level and establish regular delivery services to ensure you don’t ever run out of propane.
Q. What should I do if I smell gas?
A. Extinguish all open flames, do not flick any light switches or use the telephone, evacuate all occupants from the house immediately, turn off the gas supply at the propane tank and leave the area. Go to a neighbor’s house or use your cell phone to report the possible leak to 911 or the fire department, and don’t return to the area until a qualified professional has determined if it’s safe to return.
Do not enter back into the area until it has been deemed safe by a qualified professional.
You should also have a licensed, qualified professional check your propane gas system before you attempt to use any of your propane appliances.
Q. How far away from the building or property do I need to be with my tank?
A. In most cases, the 500 and the 1,000 gallon tanks, must be a minimum of 10 feet away from the building or property line. However, the 420-pound cylinder tank can typically go right up against the building, with minimum requirements for building openings and intakes (windows, doors, exhausts, appliances).
Q. Why should I rent instead of purchasing?
A. Avoid big capital outlay and servicing costs with a cost-efficient rental from Heritage Propane Ltd. When you rent from us, we take care of the maintenance on the tank for worry-free operation.
Q. What do the tanks have to sit on?
A. The tanks have to sit on a level non-combustible block. Typically, aluminum or precast concrete blocks.
Q. What do I need to do to maintain the space around the tank?
A. Ensure the space around the tank is kept vegetation free. Keep the grass mowed and weed-free. Keep the area clean, and ensure no bushes or vegetation is touching the propane tank.
Q. What are the dimensions and leg spacing of your propane tanks?
